If you can breathe, you can practice yoga. Flexibility is not required - yoga is not about touching your toes or contorting yourself into a pretzel. Yoga is about making time to connect to your body and your breath, de-stressing your life, and quieting the mind.
Do allow yourself to be a beginner (especially if you are) take it slow, explore modifactions that fit you, avoid pain, use props and remember the poses become more familiar. Ask a teacher for suggestions.
Gentle Yoga is the perfect place for most people to start. This beginning-level class will help you learn how to best approach the postures for your specific needs. Our other beginner friendly classes include Tai Chi and QiGong.

Bring a bottle of water and a yoga mat if you have one. Maybe a towel if taking a heated or vigorous class. If you don't have one or forget yours, no worries! We have mats to borrow and towels for rent. All additional props are provided by the studio, feel free to bring your own if you prefer. And no need for your phone! Take a short break and leave it in your car or in our lobby.
Wear loose fitting, comfortable attire that you can move in. We generally practice barefoot or in socks, so shoes are not a worry. No fancy yoga pants necessary.
Yoga postures are sometimes intense, but they should never be painful. If at any time you feel sharp or shooting pain, or a relaxed breath is difficult to maintain, you are likely beyond your edge. Gently back out of the posture, use props and modifications to support your body. Remember each day can be different, explore a pose each time you take it. For suggestions, ask your teachers.
Savasana is our final resting pose, our most important pose! The space for stillness, comfort, absorption. Take your time to get comfy; maybe use a blanket as a pillow or cover up. Let go of thoughts and give yourself full permision to do absolutely nothing
-Arrive 5-10 minutes early to set up for class.
-If you arrive a few mintues late, please stow your belongings in the lobby and quietly enter the studio
-Please leave your phones off and in the lobby or your vehicle. Take this time to disconnect!
-Always listen to your body. You know you best! If it hurts, don't do it. Ask teachers for modifcations, variations, and how to support injuries.
