Greetings, beautiful souls! My name is Jessica McDonald and I am so happy to be a part of Yoga in the Pines and the Payson community! I am a sound medicine practitioner, meditation guide, LaHoChi and intuitive energy worker and sacred ceremony facilitator who loves to dabble in art and creative expression.
I grew up in Arizona and have always had a love and passion for this state and land, and all of Nature. My previous 15 year long career in small animal and wildlife veterinary medicine allowed me to express that passion. After some long term severe health issues and a spinal cord injury that resulted in multiple surgeries, I decided it was time to discover what true healing was for myself and embarked on an entirely new life journey that has brought me here. I hope to share these healing practices of sound, meditation and energy to help others on their own healing path. I have been providing sound healing guided meditations and special events at YITP since April 2022.
Hello! My name is Lisa Evans. I began dancing when I was 4 years old and haven't stopped! I love teaching various dance and fitness classes to people of all ages and levels of experience. Dance has always provided a unique outlet of expression for me and a place of peace. I am most myself when I am dancing and sharing that skill with others.
I first moved to Payson in 2008. My husband and I left for two years, but we were “called back” here and plan to stay! When I’m not teaching dance, I work as a contracted school psychologist/educational consultant. I am planning to extend my work into advocacy soon. I enjoy dance (obviously), yoga, practicing reiki and spending time with my husband and two dogs. I am so grateful to be a part of Yoga in the Pines!
Tina Iwalani Terry has studied yoga since 1979 & has been teaching since 2012. She is originally from Hawai’I – her middle name means “Bird of Heaven,” her grandmother’s given name. She lived for 25 years in Singapore & Kingston, Jamaica. She studied classical ballet for 11 years, & loves to incorporate some ballet moves into her practice. Her certifications are with Anmol Mehta & YogaFaith.org, with whom she is currently pursuing her 500-hour and Yoga Nidra certifications. She loves Hatha, Yin, Restorative, Yoga Nidra, EFT, & the Five Tibetan Rites. She is married to her best friend, Mark, with whom she shares two hopelessly spoiled Chows, Pualani & Bear, who love doing Down-dog with her. After retiring from teaching high-school & college English, she is grateful to be able to teach yoga, & she plans to do so for the rest of her life, God willing!
I started my career as a Yoga and Pilates instructor close to 60 years ago,...encouraged by one of the Rheumatology patients at UCLA Medical Center that I was working with. Upon her encouragement about Yoga I sought private coaching in Iyengar Yoga and
Pilates. I learned from my Yoga Coach, If I wanted to "master" the skill set of this practice I had to follow this philosophy - LEARN IT - DO IT - TEACH IT. There is no graduation ceremony for Mastery, you continue to live by this behavior. Learn more, do more, teach more.
I did 1 on 1 coaching with these world renown professionals for over 4 years and consider that a true blessing. It is now my honor and deep pleasure to share all that was taught and given to me and to
share this with those who choose a life of flexible mobility and strength, proper breathing techniques and a deep seated respect for their mental, emotional and physical being.
Grateful to be given the opportunity to teach my "Yogalates" at Yoga in the Pines alongside of these teachers who embrace the same philosophies and excellence in sharing their gifts.
Looking forward to seeing you in class!
Hi, my name is William and I created Paint in the Pines to offer our amazing Rim Country community an opportunity to create art in a fun, stress-free, easy to follow guided class.
William grew up in the woods of Tennessee and left home to serve in the US Navy in the early 90s. After his tour of duty he moved to Phoenix and fell in love with Arizona. After many years in the valley, William moved to Payson where he enjoys the small community feel and beautiful outdoors. Let your inner artist shine, at Paint in the Pines!
My name is Kelli Waters and I believe yoga is personal. Yoga looks different for every body and it is all about finding your true, authentic expression. I have led studio & gym classes since completing my training at Spirit of Yoga in 2017. I have also guided both movement and Yoga Nidra in a clinical setting as well as at wellness forums. I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and have called Arizona my home since 2011. Arizona holds a special place in my heart and has gifted me with a deeper connection to myself, beyond my wildest dreams. Yoga gives the opportunity to bloom and grow every time you step on the mat, and I am honored to help you plant the seeds for a blossoming self-discovery! I have been teaching at Yoga In The Pines since 2020.
